How Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Work?
Used in a cosmetic medical setting as an injectable form of sterile, purified protein, small doses of anti-wrinkle injection block the release of a chemical called acetylcholine by nerve cells that signal muscle contraction. These few tiny injections block the nerve impulse, relax the muscle and the dynamic wrinkle overlying the muscle is smoothed away. Since the injection only relaxes the muscle beneath the injection site, it has no other effect on other elements of facial expression.

As you age, levels of natural hyaluronic acid in the skin decrease with time, sun exposure and lifestyle. The result is the appearance of lines, furrows and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can correct wrinkles, improve lip definition, and address the signs of ageing from the inside out.
How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
All young skin has one thing in common: hyaluronic acid. Found in all skin tissue and identical from species to species, this building block of sorts, fills out the space between collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, holding in water and maintaining the skin’s volume. With age, levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin decrease so we end up with furrows, wrinkles and often thinner lips. By injecting dermal filler into the skin the depressions in the skin are filled and the appearance is considerably softer and the wrinkle may be eliminated.
Dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts using an ultra-fine needle. A local anaesthetic block can also be administered. Furthermore, if the patient does not like the result, Dermal Fillers can be dissolved with a natural enzyme within hours- the skin will return to its former state as it appeared before the injection.

Tips for Dermal Fillers
- Avoid aspirin, vitamin E and essential fatty acids for seven days before your appointment as this will minimise the chance of any bruising
- Avoid ibuprofen and anti-inflammatory drugs three days before your injection
- Avoid ginkgo biloba for three days before your treatment
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
- If you are on blood thinners or have bruising problems, please notify us before your treatment
- Laser and facial treatments may be performed two weeks after Dermal Fillers

Matrix PDO Threads are another method of tightening and thickening your skin. They are a type of single PDO filament, are smooth and without barbs.
Matrix PDO Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect.
They are minimally invasive and can also be used multiple times.
What are Matrix PDO threads made from?
Our mono threads are made from Polydioxanone – an absorbable polymer. This material is both flexible and durable.
The threads become a support structure for your face, allowing collagen production to increase. Overtime, the threads are absorbed by the body.
How do Matrix PDO threads tighten the skin?
They induce natural collagen production, which creates a tightening effect. This effect lasts for 6-12 months.
